Thursday Thirteen ~ Songs that start with D

Listening to music the other day, I found myself happily cruising through albums starting with the letter "D". Here are thirteen titles I own, listed in the alphabetical order in which they appear on my iPod and beginning with the first of that day's playlist:

Demon Days by Gorillaz – eclectic and fun music you must hear to believe; the cartoon representations of the characters make the videos truly unique

Destination Anywhere by Jon Bon Bovi – this solo project by the talented singer/songwriter suits the underrated movie also starring the Bon Jovi frontman

The Dethalbum by Dethklok – I can’t wait until the next season of “Metalocalypse” comes to Adult Swim on Cartoon Network; I'm outside their usual demographic of young male fans and proud of it

Dethalbum II by Dethklok – more great songs from the creative mind of musician Brendon Small to keep me occupied until the new episodes air

DIABOLOS by Gackt – I simply can’t get enough of this Japanese artist's music

Diary of a Madman by Ozzy Osbourne – classic

Diet for a New America by 58 – a short-lived side project of Nikki Sixx from Mötley Crüe; I had to buy it used and I'm glad I made the effort to find this out-of-print gem

Dirty Dancing – I still miss Patrick Swayze, who gave a fabulous performance as the movie’s leading man and also sings the stirring ballad “She’s Like the Wind”

Disintegration by The Cure – this is a tremendous favorite, dark and brooding

Disposable Teens 1 by Marilyn Manson – a total of three songs includes the “Disposable Teens” single from concept album Holy Wood, as well as a cover of “Working Class Hero” and the quirky “Diamonds and Pollen”

Disposable Teens 2 by Marilyn Manson – two more B-sides, not as good but just as coveted because I am a seriously geeky music collector

Diver Down by Van Halen – another classic; especially enjoyable to me are “Where Have All the Good Times Gone?” and “Little Guitars”

The Division Bell by Pink Floyd – this one is full of haunting, ethereal music and I'll leave you with that as I go have another listen

Happy Thursday!

  1. It's always interesting to learn about your music interests. I recognized fewer than half today. Your descriptions usually lead to expanding my collection.

  2. How sad is it that the only title I recognized with any certainty is "Dirty Dancing"? Thanks for visiting! :)

  5. Same here, Heather. I'm so out of touch, it seems.

But then again, I tend to listen to my same tried and true favorites over and over. I almost never have the radio on.

  8. I appreciate the feedback! It was definitely a local rock station that woke me up from a few overplayed CDs and the now dreaded talk radio. Life's too short to be depressed by current affairs all the time. Granted, I listen to Gackt far to much, but I claim my Japanese language lessons as valid excuse. I need to check out the ones you list, Elise! Thank you.
